Chemicals used on black stoves will turn the black into a dull non-shiney color. Are you using chemicals on your stove like windex or something like that? You should only be using mild soap like a little bit of dish soap, and then rinse off with your clean cloth afterwards. I have a black stove and my mannual for it says not to use cleaners with chemicals such as windex etc. If you don't have a mannual for your stove, I would look the company up who makes it, like for instance LG, or Whirlpool, or Frigidaire and email them asking for a mannual, or they may have one on their website.
Hope this helps. :-)

It depends on what the stove is made of. I had a black glass cooktop that required soap & water followed by windex for shine after each use. Microfiber cloths worked the best. Try soap & water first, rinsed well. Your stoves instruction book should also have suggestions on cleaning. If you no longer have one, check with the supplier for one. You really want to be careful not to use anything abrasive that could scratch the surface.
