Not many people were watching it. And, CartoonNetwork appeals mostly to boys, so Sailor Moon didn't really help. Don't worry I miss Sailor Moon, too! ^.^

In the West, Sailor Moon was sometimes associated with the Girl Power movement and with empowering its viewers, compared both favorably and unfavorably with Barbie and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Despite the series' apparent popularity among Western anime fandom, the dubbed version of the series received poor ratings in the United States and did not do well in DVD sales in the United Kingdom. Anne Allison attributes the lack of popularity in the United States primarily to poor marketing (in the United States, the series was initially broadcast at times which did not suit the target audience - weekdays at 9:00 am and 2:00 pm). Executives connected with Sailor Moon suggest that poor localization played a role. The British distributor, MVM Films, has attributed the poor sales to the United Kingdom release being of the dub only, and that major retailers refused to support the show leading to the DVD release appealing to neither children nor older anime fans.

It ran for a long time in Japan, but the US lost the rights to show it long before it was cancelled. I think they had it on until 2003. Not 100% though.

Toei, Cartoon Network didnt renew their licence to continue running the series.
and since Sailor Stars is never coming out in english, i guess they let it die away in the files.

my personal view is that because the crap they made out the series Ms. naoko cancelled any further damage to the final season....toi which i'm glad....i would buy the dvd's, rewind, fast forward, rewind, fast forward......

I think it got canceled because either not a lot of people watched it or it was the end of the series

Honestly and seriously, it was considered to be too sexual in nature.

Serene was only 14 but was doing all of this stuff with what's-his-name (Tuxedo Knight), and they were supposed to have a child in the future which they were taking care of in the present, and they wore those skimpy outfits and handled those wands. Those were some of the reasons given for why they were considered to be sl*ts and a bad influence for girls.
