multiply by x
1 + x =x^2 -4x
x^2-5x-1=0
now solve the quadratic equation
If the problem was meant to be 1/(x+1), then just multiply by x+1 in stead of x

1/x+1= x-4
1/x-x =-5
1/x- x^2/x = - 5
(1-x^2)/x = -5
1-x^2 = -5x
x^2-5x -1 = 0
x = [5 +/- sqrt(25+4)]/2
x = (5 +sqrt(29))/2
x = 5.2 to nearest tenth

properly we could simplify it we could take R1 =m, R2=N and RT =p interior the formula.. now simplify the formula.. one million/m + one million/n =one million/p =>(n+m)/mn =one million/p (taking the lcm of m and n..) => (n+m)p=mn we've n=R2=x+3 and m=R1=x and p=RT=2.25 substituting interior the above equation => (x+3+x)2.25=x(x+3) =>(2x+3)2.25=x^2+3x =>4.5x+6.seventy 5= x^2+3x =>x^2 - one million.5x -6.seventy 5=0 now get the roots of x and substitue ull get the respond
