The best time to control grubs is in early summer (July-Aug) just after they hatch. At this time they are very susceptible to treatment and just before they start causing extensive damage to your lawn.

Control of white grubs in late fall or early spring is difficult, because the grubs are large and may not be feeding. Only trichlorfon (Dylox) and carbaryl (Sevin) formulations are available for such last minute treatments. The key to good control is to make an even application and water thoroughly. I see that you have 24hr grub killer manufactured by "Bayer" (good stuff). As I stated above Dylox is one of the two insecticides that may take care of your grub problem and the Bayer grub killer has this ingredient. Read the label and do just as it says. The day before you apply, water the lawn so that it is moist down to a depth of at least 1". After you apply the insecticide, water it again with about a 1/2" of irrigation. You need to get the insecticide down to where they are resting. Dylox and Sevin will kill the grubs in about 3 - 5 days. Next year you will want to do the same procedure around the first of July to get any new larvae that may hatch out with the new batch of adult beetles that lay eggs in the soil in the spring. A precautionary treatment might be warranted in the spring, say around April or May. Hope this answers your question. You have a good product, if you in fact have Bayer 24 hr grub killer. Good Luck!

Added Info: For Sonnyboy's benefit.... That is why you use "Dylox" or "Sevin" for a fall application. These chemicals have a longer lasting residual effect on grubs when they have stopped feeding.

Around here it is August for some species, Spring for others. Applying now probably won't work because they are heading down into the lower soil levels to escape winter cold. When they come up in Spring one species is too big and in a noneating stage anyway.

So depends on what your lawn grubs are and where you live.

I use a lawn company for maintenance. You spray for grubs in late July/early August.
It would be a total waste of time and money to do it now or even in early spring.
You have to get them when the larvae are hatching.
