I would hope that the Cardinals fans don't blindly accept McGwire and his chemically enhanced career as the Giants fans have done with Bonds.
I've often wondered what my reaction would be if I found out that one of our beloved Yankees (other than Giambi) was guilty of steroid use. My position on Giambi, as many already know, is one of total disappointment and betrayal. I do not root for him in any way. As far as I'm concerned he is a non factor when it comes to the Yankees. I wish he was not a Yankee. I would take the same position if any Yankee was guilty of cheating.
As I said, I would hope that the Cardinal and Giant fans would honor the game by not honoring those who cheated to gain an unfair advantage over their peers.

Good player, great humanitarian. Steroid thing overblown. What he took was legal at the time he took it. He was still a home run stud by hitting 49 in his rookie year (missed 50 to be at the hospital for the birth of his son). Injuries kept him under 600 or he would be in Ruth/Aaron territory. Legitimate Gold-Glove First baseman. But, most of all, the organizations he formed for kids and the work he did off the field makes him a true American hero.

He was your typical power hitter early in the 1990's, and then he became reliant on steroids. Pity.

i think he's a proper candidate for the hall of shame...giving a speech of apology next to Barry bonds and Jason Giambi.
Didn't you love his response when asked he knowningly took steroids? tears are so funny when they come from steroid injected fat heads.
