I don't think Hugging is popular in the animal world.
Porcupines can get into slapping fits. Try to check each other out and size each other up that way. But they don't really hug.
The times they really get physical, they are likely stalking and trying to hurt a rival or someone annoying them some how. That is probably when they are more likely to pull and tug and get caught in a picture labled as them hugging.

No they don't hug -they "snoodle "
It is beyond me why there are any more porcupines ! They must procreate by throwing there love around !

of course they do! so do turtles, hedgehogs, and punkers..despite their pointed little thingys. it is god`s will that we all hug...even the spiny!
