Well, they probably would not be contagious as they would not be airborne for very long

They would starve: since surface area is volume^2/3, there would be a lot of space between the membrane and some organells, so the nutrients would take a lot of time and energy to get there.

Impossible; they would collapse into heaps of unorganized protoplasm. Cube-square law, don't you know?
