Could you at least change the phrasing of this question a bit more?

I think it's a great idea on paper. Here's the deal. After 7 years, you know if things are working or not. You then have a choice to renew your license, confirming your committment to each other, or the marriage is simply over - there technically is not a divorce. The hope, of course, is that it would eliminate the nastiness and hostility that often accompanies divorce. I don't think that's necessarily the case though. It would be rare for both parties to agree not to renew...and then you would still have the 'who gets what' issues to argue over....It's not a bad idea on paper, but in reality I don't think it would serve it's intended purpose.

No. Why bother getting married if you're looking forward to a divorce in seven years. Marriage is supposed to be a lifetime commitment.

is it a good idea? hell yeah! people do it all the time around the world. its called renewing their vows. i dont have a problem with renewing my vows to the woman i promised my heart and soul to.
I, _____, take you ______, to be my wedded wife. To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, 'till death do us part.
its a good reminder that the commitment you made with each other is still there.

Well sorta..
maybe if they were forced to be together they would realize what they fell in love with in the first place...
but if your relationship is really bad, and you don't have the freedom to move on, then alot of people would be stuck in a sad place in their lives.

I think it's a good idea, it will make people have to think about they're relationship. Some people aren't ment to be together forever and at least they will be able to decide if they truly love their spouse or not.

It isn't exactly what God had in mind, but in this day and age,I say it is a very good idea.
