I currently have Cingular (AT&T) on an old Family Plan. I current get 850 Shared Anytime mins$69.99 + Unlim Text for $19.99. I only use about 600 mins a month. I'm out of both contracts with both of my lines and need to switch due to the fact I never get Cingular Cell phone coverage in my house. When friends w/out Cingular come over my house they get great service. My question is what service is good, that I can get. Also Cingular currently gives me like 6% off my bill each month for being a teacher. Does any1 kno of good carriers besides Cingular/ATT that have good deals. & give discounts.

Thanks!

Most companies give discounts for being in the Military or working for the state. But you have to call to ask about being a teacher. But heres the deal. Verizon is great until you get the bill. Then they will tell you anything to keep you. Sprint has no coverage. I had Cingular for years there service and billing has done nothing but go down hill. So much so, that that I switched to T-mobile. But here is an example of the plans.
If you want a plan that cost $39.99 a month then get t-mobile

AT&T- $39.99 450 minutes and 5000 nights and weekends

T-Mobile- $39.99 1000 minutes and no nights and weekends
OR
$39.99 600 minutes and unlimited nights and weekends
OR
$39.99 300 nights/My Faves/unlimited nights and weekends

Verizon- $39.99 450 minutes/unlimited nights and weekends

bottom line: get t-mobile because it provides you more minutes and has good coverage. My FAVE FIVE is the best on the market. I don't know why people have other companies

Go with Verizon Wireless, the have the best coverage in the US. AT&T sucks, and so does Nextel/Sprint.

Verizon wireless will probably give discounts also if your school is part of their partner's list.

For starters its cheaper to just call someone on the phone than it is to send and receive text messages, and easier on your eyes, and hands than pressing all those little buttons on the phone. Since your using over 600 minutes a month I suggest a plan with more minutes, due to at 45 cents per minutes past your allowed minutes it gets expensive quick.

despite the fact I used to work for verizon wireless and they suck as an employer, their service is the best. well, their cell service is the best, their customer service can be spotty. they have great deals on phones though- if you keep a phone for 2 years, you get a $100 credit for a new one. I got their motorola GPS phone last summer for free that way. it's a premium service they have though- tmobile might charge $50 for 1000 minutes, but you can't use them because their service sux. I pay $500 for 450 mins with verizon but it's worth it because you get signal everywhere.

I have Verizon Wireless and I can say that the guy who says "Can you here me know?" is liying. I can't service in my bedroom or even at my school (Mira Costa High). It sucks. Not even in the mountains do you get reception. Althoguh you have all these cool Verizon features, like VCast and stuff, it has the worst reception ever. When I was at Lake Arrowhead in CA, which is around 5,000 Feet, he got great reception. All full bars. i don't know if he has Sprint or T-Mobile. But I am just saying don't get Verizon becuase it is exactly like AT&T. Don't listen to the first guy
