Is there any way to reset it or unlock it so the genius can re-lock it with a new code he won't be able to remember?

The genius threw out the instructions, he said he locked it while he was in class at school not studying. Also I put all the songs on it, its a duplicate of my ipod except I removed the dirty liz phair songs

I'm sure if you contact the Apple support center they will be able to tell you what steps to take in order to fix the problem.
Your son must not be much of a genius, if he can't remember a simple code. And what does he have hidden on there to need a code? Maybe you as a parent should be checking on what he is downloading.
Also, try reading the manual that came with the IPOD, that is if your "Genius" son didn't throw that away.
