My friend is pregnant by a man other than her husband. They have since split up. He lives in NC and she has moved back here to MO. He is in the military. She has been told that she cannot get a divorce until after the baby is born since she resides in the state of MO and they got married here. Anybody ever heard of such a thing?

In that Bible belt bastion of conservatism? Of course not! He's in the military? That makes it even worse. Matt Blunt will not stand for it!

I suggest she move to East St. Louis, Illinois. It's anything goes over there. She could be a pregnant stripper impregnated by the Governor himself and they would let her divorce the neighbors pet mouse.

GO BEARS!

i in my view am no longer for specific approximately whether or no longer they assist you to, yet Missouri is a no-fault state. meaning which you committing adultery can't be used against you for the duration of a divorce. i might tell the choose which you're pregnant. Having to attend some greater months is greater appropriate than possibly loosing custody of your infants later.

I have never heard anything like that, but I would imagine who ever told her, was maybe looking out for her best interest. If she has the baby while still married, the military will cover those expenses.

WHO TOLD HER THAT????? SHE CAN GET A DIVORCE WHEN EVER SHE WANTS TO. THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY. SHE DOES HOWEVER NEED TO ESTABLISH RESIDENCY IN THE NEW STATE SHE LIVES IN AND ITS GOOD FOR HER THAT THE BABY WILL BE BORN RESIDENT OF ANOTHER STATE. TELL HIM BEFORE THE BABY IS BORN THAT HE IS NOT THE FATHER AND AGREE TO TEST. SO HE WILL HAVE NO INVOLVEMENT WITH THE CHILD . HE WILL HAVE NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER

Sounds like a wonderful woman! And women wonder why men are bitter! I bet she will get support from the military until the divorce is final as well.

she'll need to ask a local lawyer this question. it may be some old law from years ago but if it's still in the books, it's for real
