Whatever exhibit is closest to the entrance. It doesn't make sense to double back.
But if sore feet were no object, I'd head for the big cats first.

That depends entirely on the zoo. Taronga Park zoo in Sydney is on the side of a steep hill. You start at the top and work your way down. If you miss something, it is a long climb back up the hill. The reptile house is nearest the entrance, so most people start with the snakes.

The monkeys! The last time I went one of the monkeys was showing off and swinging on a tree branch using only one hand, he spammed into the glass face first!! It was hilarious!

i'd go in the fall because it is not to hot or to cold. i would see my farits first and then start walking back to where the car is but on the way see the animals.
