hi all,
im 14weeks plus one day pregnant with baby number 3. ive been going by these weeks as it was the first day of my last period. which is what the doc go on at first. well i went for my first scan today and expected them to say i was anything between 10 and 12weeks. but they said my baby is messureing 14weeks and 1 day. well i know i didnt conceieve on the first day of my last period as i didnt have sex then, i had sex ruffly about 2weeks after my period finished. so why is my baby messureing this big? is it because they have done it wrong? or do i just have a big baby? i have 2 little boys and my first weighed 7lb 12oz and my second a wopping 9lb 3oz so im really scared this baby will be even bigger. any imput would be great thank you x.x.x

same thing happened to me. actually according to my ultrasound i was pregnant already when i got my last period and i know it wasn't implantation bleeding it was a normal period. my doctor just said that the due date and measurements and not always exactly correct. that's how they tell some people oh your baby is going to be 9 lbs and it comes out 6. it happened to a friend of mine they weren't sure about the babies position so they did an ultrasound the day he was born told her he was going to be almost 10 lbs and he came out 6 something.

There's no way for me to know for sure, because I don't know your history but I'll give you my opinion. An ultrasound done this early is normally very, very accurate. Normally there is not much variance in growth rates at this gestation. Menstrual period dates are much less accurate. You also, may not get pregnant the day you have intercourse. I know, it sounds crazy, but sperm can live for a day or two inside, so if you ovulate a day or two after intercourse, you could technically conceive then. When was the first day of your last menstrual period? I could give you that due date if I knew the exact date, but like I said, that due date would probably be less accurate than your ultrasound today. I would probably trust your dr.

my doctors keep track of my pregnancy and the size of my baby based of of my lmp. based on my lmp, I am 28 wks and 2 days. my doctors would tell me the same number if I had an exam done today.

my guess is that your doctors count the same way you do (from you lmp) to attempt to avoid any confusion.

it is possible that your baby would be measureing big though, in which case, i still would not worry because 14 weeks is pretty early, and there is lots of growing to be done in the next few months.

did you have sex any time in the week BEFORE your period? it is possible that you ovulated late in your cycle right before your "period" that ended up not really being a period. it CAN happen... good luck in figuring out how pregnant you are!
