On my Pop Music course, we have to pick a song that will utilise all the members that have been put in our group, 2 acoustic guitars, think Brian May on lead guitar, bass and drums,
2 male vocalists and 1 female vocalist.
I think something that starts acoustic and builds up and can have 3 part harmony would be perfect, any ideas?

Don't let anyone tell you that you NEED to start on an acoustic guitar. You can learn equally well on either an acoustic or an electric. The deciding factor should be which of those two guitars is more appropriate for the music you wish to play. Learning on the guitar that's right for you and your music will keep you motivated to keep at it until you're successful. Why waste money on a guitar you have no interest it? That's silly and worse, will make it hard for you to learn. You should buy an electric guitar, based on your stated musical preferences. Important - buy your guitar at a music store and nowhere else. Not at a big box store like Wal*Mart and not over the internet. Buy from a local guitar store. New guitars frequently require some small adjustments, called "set up." Your guitar store can and will do that for you. A big box store or the internet will not. Good luck.

I know it's way overplayed but "Stairwey To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin is a good example. It starts out acoustically and as the song progresses, instruments are added until it reaches a bombastic climax. Then it ends quietly.

I have the perfect song! "Til We Ain't Strangers Anymore" by Bon Jovi and LeAnn Rimes. It's got male and female vocals, starts off acoustic then builds up, and it's got a great solo.

Time Was by Wishbone Ash is a good choice if you want to start off acoustic and have a good harmony.

"Highway Song" by Blackfoot. It isn't recorded with as many vocalists, but the addition would get everyone's attention (especially the instructor's). Check it out.

if you were really creative ...... you might think this is a really bad idea... but i had a thought.... you could re-vamp "In the Air Tonight" kind of the way that Pink Floyd did their "Division Bell" tunes with lots of background singing. If your female is a Soprano I'm thinkin it could work.
