You have half of an equation there. If you knew what number that bunch of stuff is equal to you could find out exactly how much x is.
Instead you just can combine the terms you have to get the parenthesis out of there.
Multiply by 9 to remove the parenthesis (which means multiply anyway).
You get 9 times 3 + 9 times 2x. That makes it 27 + 18x. That is as far as you an go without having the other part of the equation (the number that this stuff equals).
If you had that you could bring all the numbers to one side and the x to the other, Then you could find the number that x represents.

distribute the nine to the parenthesis. use PEMDAS (parentheses, exponents, mutiplication, division, addition, subtraction) this is the order of operations. so, 9 *3 is 27 and 9 *2x is 18x so then you have 27+18x which if this is just pre-algebra, that is the answer. hope this helps!

you use hte distributive property.
to get rid of hte 9 you would "bunny hop" to each of the numbers inside the parenthisis.
ex
9 x 3 + 18x
^^and thats simplifying it..
to simplify it even more..
27 +18x
