~Pin money was pinned inside of a garment (like a sweater).
~Pen money was CASH that was left off the books by a business owner who didn't want to have to pay taxes on it!

When a girl would go out on a date she would pin money in her clothing in case her date wasn't a gentleman she could take a cab or call someone.

I'll take a wild guess, and say it is money that one puts away for a rainy day but its pinned inside your clothing for safe keeping.

I do recall my grandmother pinning a pocket that she put money in inside her dress. Don't know if that is what your looking for.

pin money was the money that the women pinned to the inside of their bra or inner frock. it was money saved from grocery money. when women stayed at home they needed something to fall back on.

Is THAT why my mama had all those safety pins on the front of her dress???? I thought she had them their in case she ..or we..needed one. Your mama ever do that???
