What would be the effects of an explosion completely tearing away Hoover Dam? How large of an area would be flooded? How many would lose power due to power supply being cut of from this source? What would be all the effects including possible casualties if this ever happened?

It would immediately widen the Colorado River south of the dam from all of the water pouring out of Lake Mead. And it would wipe out the communities of Nelson, Searchlight and Laughlin.
The loss of power would be mostly felt by communities in Southern California since most of that power is sent there through the grid of the Department of Water and Power. Only 4% of the power from the dam is used in Southern Nevada. Only the city of Boulder City would go dark.
That's why we have such intense security measures at the dam. Trucks can no longer cross. Every other vehicle crossing in both directions is subject to search. There are other security measures in place which are not revealed to the public.

Certainly be a loss of lives and a great deal of flooding but please don't put ideas into their heads. The bastards have caused enough damage already.
