3x + 5 is itself. It evaluates out to nothing more. It only equals 7x when x = 1.25

No, 3x+5 means 3 multiplied by some number and then you add 5.

7x means 7 times some number.

Try it out:

3(2)+5=11
7(2)=14

3x+5=what?

if it was y=3x+5 then that would be a line with slope of three and a y intercept of 5.

if 0=3x+5 then
3x=-5
divide both sides by 3
and x=-5/3

It's 3x + 5......If you set it = to 0......3x + 5 = 0 then you can solve for x.

3x + 5 = 0......3x = -5......x - -5/3.....

3 ( 5/3) + 5 = 0......15/3- 5 = 0.....5 - 5 = 0.....0 = 0

Hope this helps.

Let y(x) = 3x + 5
This is a straight line AND it is not = 7x

you can't do anything further with it (plug in a number with the formula, then your answer to see). If you want it to equal zero, then the answer is -5/3.

no, it would only be 7x if it was 2x + 5x. Do you know what X is?

8x because its just adding and you don't have to group like factors.
