What songs put you in a kind of trance the first time you heard them? Do they still do it? When A Blind Man Cries by Deep Purple does it to me every time. I zone out whenever I hear it and become lost in the music.

The entire album Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake is hypnotic. The chilling lyrics and beautiful guitar would make anybody go into a trance.

It's just barely not long enough, but Within You, Without You by the Beatles is one that evokes that.

From a different angle, the Dandy Warhols have a song on their first record that is 2 chords for about 16 minutes and the riff never really changes, but the time factor just gets kind of sucked away and somehow it works. At least when you're listening to it on a long drive.
