I need the answer for the science... Beside being food for the dragonflies, why does ticks exists to begin with?
I need help.

There is no answer in science to the question "why" things exist. Animals evolve to exploit a niche that provides food and breeding potential. Successful breeding leds to more animals. Ticks are one of the animals that feed on blood. They do it differently from mosquitoes, leeches and vampire bats so they have found a niche that they can use.

They also provide food for many birds that pick ticks off the hides of large herbivores.

to keep the diversity of animals from overpopulating. they basically kill off some animals. they also as you sed make food for dragonflies, and other insects.
