I will not delve into the past ( like how corruption arose etc.,). The truth is I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRUPTION, TOO! Note please that this means I am just one of them.....so my influence is very limited. The human mind will deny this allegation instantly. Little introspection done by the mind, by keeping things highest on the individuals priority list, it will dawn on him that his thoughts would read like this :- "where so many scams & corrupt practices are being carried over all the time.....then a little bit of bias/ influence hardly matters. Moreover, it will say that by overlooking a small fact in it's case it will benefit my life & of all those dependent on me." IT'S THE FASTEST GROWING MALIGNANT CANCER!

The time you reminded for quating star made you corrupt for your ardent desire of gaining it. I am just answering your question about. So corruption starts with selfishness. Its a psychological disease which starts with your wish to get more than others.A man forgets that moment" the end of life is death which comes to every creature", hence goes on accumalating everything wright or wrong. He lacks behind moments of Truth.and so unhappy..

The greed (including the greed of wanting more knowledge, wealth, etc. than the next person)
The anger (including the arrogance of thinking that one has all of the answers and others know nothing; thereby, giving him the right to control others)
The stupidity (for assuming that there is only enough in the limitless universe for one and that he alone, regardless of his self-professed divine sources, has all of the rights, etc...
Corruption begins with this shallow self-satisfied, and limited understanding from within oneself...

We all are. The giver is as much responsible as the person who receives.
Moreover, its greed that drives us to corruption. If only we follow the adage: "There is enough to go around to satisfy our need, but not our greed".
