Mind you, I didn't ask for their opinion in the first place. I'm growing a trimmed beard too, so it's quite a change. Is there something work-place appropriate I can say that will still let them know how much I need their D.A. opinion?

tell them that you are glad they got that off their chest

tell them thank you for the answer

tell them thanks but no thanks

tell them ... oh really, well you're the first to say that. but thank you for your opinion anyway.

tell them to piss off

tell them to wack a wobble
haha

or.. just look at them like they are insignificant and irrelevant and mostly like they are dumb as a rock, say nothing, and walk away. actions speak louder than words.;)

Tell them to go kick rocks!!! About a yer ago I cut my hair really short. Then I cut it into a mohawk a few months after that. People said things but as long as I'm happy with my hair thats all that matters. And I work in an office.

there really is no answer for this. Why should you be affected by people not approving of YOUR haircut? It doesn't change who you are, or how you go about your work. Don't say anything back to them, just smile.

I just smile and say, "I don't care if you don't like it, but thanks :)"
I recently said that to someone because she said she hated it. Another girlfriend who loves her long hair was like, "whyyyyy did you cut it?" and grabbed her own hair in a protective way. I told her, "I'm not attached to it, it grows back and besides, I KNOW I'm still hella sexy". Then there are those that don't like change, even if it has nothing to do with them. Screw em, if YOU like it, that's all that matters :)

You should probably just tell them that it is your haircut and if they don't like it too bad. Just go with what you want because remember, that it doesn't matter what other people think, its only what you think+

If they don't like it, then just ignore them, what matters is that you love what you look like, these people are just insecure and are trying to make you feel bad so they can feel better about themselves, if they are persistent, say that while they are entitled to their opinion it is your hair and therefore your choice what it looks like.

All opinions will automatically go into file 13.

Really, you don't answer to anyone but you! You can politely express that "you respect their opinions," but it is your choice. Your life will not be "altered" as a result of having short hair.

If you cut your nails and someone doesn't like it would you care? Same difference. Appearance is fleeting and superficial. If you like it, F the naysayers. Wear it without fear...you have no choice now anyways.
