i have to read it for english and i do not understand it!! please explain?

I haven't read that one in decades....you should really read it.
Basically, one guy is ticked off at another..so at his party he feeds him a lot of wine and takes him to the cellar of his home and mortars up a wall to trap the guy as the ultimate vengeance.
The thing with Poe's writing is this...sometimes its tough to get through it...he was a madman...and writing style was so different back when he was alive...it was written a bit too flowery and loses many students.
There's always a lot of irony and symbolism in Poe's writings, too. Find the cliffnotes on that. Teachers eat up that crap.

i had to read this short story two years ago in English. it is VERY weird and has a horribly ending, but it is by Poe so it's understandable. heres the link to sparknotes for this story, its very helpful and explains the story in plain english.
