My husband is staying there on business, the hotel choice made by the company travel department for reason of having a discount I guess; he had no choice. My husband has only been to Vegas once, many many years ago, and he had to stay at some little cheap hotel, which was bug infested. I'm sure the Westin is better than that, but the other guys he is traveling with for business, say that the Westin isn't great. Now I read reviews that their elevators are ALWAYS having problems.
Anyone with experience staying there? I know it's slightly off of the strip, I know it's not a luxury hotel (no theme etc), and I know the pool is relatively small.

The only large hotel I know of, on or near the strip that seemingly has constant trouble with it's elevators is the Imperial Palace.
If you want to try your hand at a little low limit gambling the Westin Casuarina has happy hour from 5pm-10pm on weekdays and you can play craps & roulette(.25c chips) for $1 - The dealers and cocktail waitresses are very friendly.
The rooms are not huge, by any standards but they are nice and the beds are very comfortable.
If you only feel comfortable in 5 star hotels, then the Westin is probably not going to be your cup of tea. >I actually like 3 star hotels.
I keep hearing about bug infested hotels in LV ?? I have been going to LV since 1967 and for the past 20+ years have spent 6-8 weeks a year there. I have yet to have a bug problem.

The Westin Casuarina is a very nice hotel casino. It is 2 blocks from center strip.
The front desk is reporting no problems with the elevators at this time.

I have been to Las Vegas 3 times and as far as the strip and the hotels on the strip, it is all very clean, clean, clean. Some other U.S. cities should do the same.!!!They are constantly cleaning up the cigarette butts, washrooms very clean.
