I have a 1999 chrysler concorde , the key will not turn front or backwards when in the ingiton.?

it still makes the sounds when the door is open while the key is in.

try pulling over on the steering wheel when you turn the key if the wheels are turned to sharp it won't let it turn and make sure your all the way in park if that don't help put the key in and tap on the end of the key a little then try it I've had both problems

Try to turn the steering wheel both ways. It most likely will not turn very far since they normally lock while in park. But, sometimes if you jiggle it back and forth, it will let you turn the key. Also, make sure it is all the way in park/neutral. If neither of these work, call a Chrysler dealership and ask if they know of any other tricks. Good luck!

try tapping the key lightly with a hammer into the cylinder. LIGHTLY. try this a few times, play with it and once you get it to turn to the on position, DO NOT turn it back to off. at this point the cylinder can be removed, and rebuilt. a cylinder rebuild is around $30 plus the labor to remove and install. 9 out of 10 times i can rebuild the cylinder, and it wont have to be replaced.

I would try spraying it with graphite and moving the key up and down while turning the steering wheel back and forth. If that doesn't work, Do what Sprinkles says.

if the above stuff doesn't work, you need a new lock cylinder. it will have to be drilled out of your steering column, and the new one will be keyed to your old key. most likely you will have to tow it unless you get lucky enough that someone will come to you.
