Sleep disorders affect millions of people. According to a national survey, 54% of adults said they have experienced at least one symptom of insomnia1. Good sleep is as important to good health as diet and exercise. Poor sleep can lead to depression, health problems — even accidents.
Basic sleep problems people experience can include
Difficulty falling asleep
Difficulty staying asleep
These can be caused by a number of circumstances, such as:
Stress at work
Traveling to another time zone
Worry over a major financial decision
When people experience trouble sleeping, it is often referred to as insomnia, which may vary in severity. The three types of insomnia are: transient insomnia, intermittent insomnia, and chronic insomnia.
If you think you are experiencing insomnia, be sure to talk to your doctor and find out if AMBIEN CR is the right treatment for you.
While natural sleep is best, AMBIEN CR can help you fall asleep fast so that you can wake ready for your day†.
You can learn more about insomnia, and get sleep tips to find out how changes in your sleep habits and your sleep environment can improve your sleep. You'll also find a sleep diary that will help you track your sleep patterns so that you can start a dialog with your doctor to see if a prescription sleep aid is right for you.

Stay away from Ambien, it has a lot of side effects and you will wake very groggy and drugged feeling.
I have started acupunture for stress, and it is doing wonders for me sleeping! I am sleeping great now, when I usually had insomnia atleast once a week before.
I also used to have a natural sleeping pill, simply sleep that really helped. Also, tea is great.
Try taking a shower before you go to bed, and make sure your room is very dark and cool.
And dont watch tv or get on the computer before you go to bed. That stimulates your mind too much! My problem was that I was up because my mind was racing. Try clearing your mind, as best as you can.
People also say yoga is great to start training your body and mind.

The artificial light from the computer screen (and even your phone) can reduce melatonin (the sleep hormone) production in your body. Try taking a melatonin suppliment. I take 1mg melatonin on nights that I can't sleep and it works like a charm! The only downfall to taking melatonin is that if you take it every night your body will get used to it and you will have to increase how much you take. I try to only take it occasionally. I also love hot tea containing camomile to help me relax. Sleepy Time Tea with honey is wonderful. :)

trying doing something to make you tired...Do NOT take any kinds of sleeping pills from any doctor and if you do...better have another person stay with you threw the night. That Ambien CR is no good. Look it up. people have painted their front door of their house and don't remember doing it. My Dad park his car in the garage one night and the next day he found it running. Good luck

Chamomile, Lavender or Clary Sage will all help, just do some research on uses from the sight below before experimenting.
http://www.aworldofaromatherapy.com/essential-oils-insomnia.htm
Clary Sage is listed as a hypnotic in some essential oil books, so use sparingly and mix with a base or 1 drop on a tissue near your pillow.

You could try Sleep MD which is supposed to be all natural, or try melatonin.
