First of all, did these spiders have webs or were they just scurrying across the floor. If it is the latter, I would say that you have a Wolf Spider. Wolf Spiders are active hunters and do not build a web to catch their prey, thus the name. They are venomous, but are not dangerous to humans. They have been known to inflict a quite painful bite though. One sure way to positively ID these guys, as they look like some Funnel Web Weavers, is to darken the room, and shine a flashlight at them. Their eyes will glow, similar to a mammals eyes. They have very good eyesight for a spider. They are robust (strong looking), and very fast and agile.

Keep in mind that their are different types of Wolf Spiders, so yours (if that is what they are) may not look identical to this one.
A Brown Recluse......I doubt it. As the name implies, Recluse, they are not likely to be seen running around your house, but like dark corners, the insides of shoes, clothing, bedding, basically anywhere that they can hide and not be detected. Yes, it is true that the bite of a Brown Recluse does have medical significance, but for the most part, symptoms are localized and not dangerous. Although a bite from this spider always is deserving of medical attention. The problem with this spider, is that it's bite is almost painless. Many bites from this spider are actually attributed to the Yellow Sac Spider, a much more aggressive species that is capable of causing similar reactions.
Get rid of them? Why? They do so much good. That is probably not the answer you wanted to hear. Face it, spiders are part of our lives, like it or not. You could exterminate all of them, but they are going to come back. But here is a sight that will give you some good advice, just click on the link to spiders. This guy is good.......

"I have found 4 spiders of the same type in my house in the last week, does it mean there is a nest?"
No, it means its getting cold outside and they're looking for a warmer place to make their web.
I can only think of 2 dangerous spiders in the U.S. that are brown and about that size. do a search for images and info: Hobo spider & brown recluse.

The spider you described could very well be brown recluses or wolf spiders. Which both have a very nasty bite and can cause cancer rotting of the flesh if you are bitten by them. Seeing alot spiders in your house does not neccessarily mean there is a nest of them in your house. However it can mean there is a ample food supply of insects in your house which has attracted them. A good suggestion would be to use any powerful insecticide for spiders and spray all the dark and damp areas of your house. Also, spray your kitchen floor at night because insects are attracted to the food left on the floors at night. Okay, I hope this helped. Take care

If the weather is starting to get cooler where you live they may be coming in from outside to winter over. A " nest" wouldn't have a group of spiders in it unless they were tiny and had just hatched. There are sprays you can try that will kill spiders in webs.

They are most probably males of the Tegenaria genus looking for females. They are not looking for somewhere warm but a bit of hanky panky.(they will probably die in the process)
They are your normal house spiders. Some of the larger ones Tegenaria duellicca(gigantea) are actually the fastest true spiders in the world.
If you are in the UK this is normal. if you are in the US this is normal (you imported them from Europe)
By the way US citizens The Hobo spider (Tegenaria agrestis) is common in the UK and no one complains about it's bite over here (urban myth)

yes, it is most likey that there is a nest in your house of some kind. spiders do not like in families or groups, so a female probably had eggs and new spiders hatched.
however, how often do you have spiders in the house? if it is common, maybe some just got in.
you can get rid of them by simply killing them with a napkin when you see them. (if you are merciful, put them in a container and set them free outside your house) but thats up to you
i wouldnt recommend putting out bug pioson unless it becomes really serious
