I need help!!! We just moved into a really old house and when we moved in there were fleas in the house. Now all of my animals have then. How do I get rid of them safely for the animals without taking them out. Putting them outside is not an option. They have to stay at the house with us. WHAT DO I DO?!?

Get revolution from your vet to put on all of your pets. It kills the fleas on them w/in 24 hours. You may have to bomb your house depending on how bad it is. Good luck!

Relax first! :-)

Just pop in to a vet and get some treatment. This is not a difficult problem to deal with in this day and age, so long as you don't get duped in to buying the silly flea products from stores (which don't work by the way).

You need Frontline for your pets (or Revolution or Advantage) and a spray for your house like Indorex, Acclaim, Staykil, Skoosh or whatever the vet has. Since it's a bad infestation you'll probably need to spray the house, vacuum the next day then repeat this process in a week to get the flea eggs that have hatched out. You don't need to repeat the process if you get hold of Skoosh because it's the only product that kills the eggs and pupae as well www.skooshthefleas.com

Whatever treatment you get for your animals, do make sure it gets on their SKIN, not their fur, or it can't work. Also, don't bathe them, as this will inactivate many products by washing off the skin's natural oils.

I don't know of a way to get rid of the fleas with out bombing it with flea bomb but in that case you've got to leave the house for a day and the animals have to leave also and you'd have to get them flea dipped before they could go back in the flea bombed house. I've had this problem before and that's the only way I,ve heard of to rid the whole house of fleas.

There is no option. You need to use a bug bomb and then use whatever flea repellents are safe for your animals. We have tried ALL the non-commercial flea repellents and none of them actually work. The good news is that today's flea bombs only require everybody to be out of the house for 2 hours. Then air out.

1. Give them each a bath in a good flea shampoo and put them in a non-carpeted room.

2. When they are perfectly dry and I do mean "perfectly dry" put on a monthly treatment. Advantage and Bio spot are the best!

3. Keep them away from your carpeted areas for 24 hours and wash any bedding that they have.

4. There are some vaccuumable powders that you can put on your carpet. (With your pet in the house) I've used these whenever I had cats and carpets. It never bothered my cat using the stuff with her in the house.

5. Or you can get rid of your carpet

Fleasmart.com might help you, too.

If you end up bombing borrow some pet carriers if you don't have any & keep your pets in 'em in the back yard, on top of tables, if possible, so any yard fleas will be less likely to get at 'em. Your pets won't be thrilled w/ this, but it'll just be for a couple a' few hours, & you'll all be happier in the long run.

well, if it is that bad... get frontline and other flea treatments... and you will have to bomb your house..

fleas can lay dormant for up to 2-3 yrs, in wood, and other things, just waiting for fresh meat...

get all animals out, and bomb. then flea bath, and treat each animal.
