Look at it this way:
How many wars have the British Army fought in Britain, where they need right-hand drive vehicles?
How many wars have the British Army fought abroad, where (in most cases) they need left-hand drive vehicles?
Think about it...

If they are (and I'm not sure that's so), then it probably has to do with NATO. Most countries have gone to left hand drive while Great Britain, Japan and a few other countries stick with RHD.
Originally this started because with horse drawn vehicle the driver sat on the right. Not sure why it got changed to left hand drive for most of the planet. BTW, most true racing sports cars have RHD as on most sports car race courses, they run clockwise and there are more right hand turns than left. In the US, oval tracks run counter clockwise and perhaps that is why LHD became popular. And since fof a large part of the history of the auto, US manufacturers were predominant in production many other countries adopted the LHD format. US builders used to ofer RHD models for export

Most of the ones I've seen have been RHD, even ones used in Europe during WW2; The Canadian-Built 3-tonners used in SE Asia and converted to buses in Burma are still RHD to this day!

Possibly because most other countries are and as they are to be used in conflicts abroad it makes sense for them to be left hand drive.

They're apparently too used to driving their personal cars that way to risk changing when you go in the military.
