On and off, yes.

It was just sexual though.

Additional: Yes, and not lived together...which is probably why it still works, lol !

Yes, my mother has been living with her boyfriend for almost 30 years. He has every excuse in the world for not marrying her, from not wanting to lose everything because her son (my brother) has had some drug problems, to not wanting to "ruin" their relationship. From what I saw during a visit last year, he won't marry her because he doesn't want to. They are miserable and have been for a long time.

If you've been with someone that long and won't get married, even if the other wants to, it means you want an easy exit. It would be different if you both made the decision to never marry - but after 10 years, what's the difference?

I know people that have been together for 25 years and not gotten married. I think it depends on if they mutually want to live that way. However, if you've been together 10 years, and you want a bigger committment, maybe it's time to have that talk to see if he's on the same page. Once you know that, you can decide where you go from there.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel have been together for more than 30 years, have had kids and are still together and they have never gotten married. So if they can make it work you can. People think you have to get married. But you can live together and have a life. You don't have to be married. Hope this helps.

My girlfriend and I were in a relationship for more than 20 years before moving in together and getting engaged.

15 years with my daughter's father. We were engaged all along. We were planning a wedding when my daughter came along. The plans got shelved, and I changed my mind. I stayed for her sake, for too long.

Happily married to someone else now.

I was with my son's father off and on for almost that long. We split because he didn't want to get married. How's that for irony?
