my girlfriend recently made enemies with a psychopath and now her breaks don't work. He has a history of screwing with people's cars (especially the break lines) but I don't know much about it. Anyone able to tell me what signs there would be?

Brake fluid running out on the ground. Cutting brake hoses will empty the fluid reservoir. If the brakes go to the floor and you crash into the car behind backing up it is too late. Worse yet put the car in gear and get moving at speed before you applie the brakes. Psychopath like that guy should be charged with attempted murder and taken off the streets.

Normally a person would only cut one brake line, which would wipe out only 2 of the brakes, and the car would still stop, albeit with a longer distance. But, 2 brakes, or 4 not working, there is only one thing to do, go to a shop, quickly. If the brakes don't work at all, have the car towed there. If the mechanic determines the lines were cut, or the brakes were otherwise damaged by human hands, call the police before the car is fixed.

signs would include bleeding nausea...wait that's for Viagra...
If he cut here brakes she would notice a large puddle under her gar of an Thin oily fluid. When the brake peddle was pressed there would be no Resistance and the car would not stop. Check under the hood and find the reservoir for the brake's master cylinder and see if there is any fluid in there. if not, time to call the PO PO...

The brake pedal will go all the way to the floor. There will be a puddle of brake fluid on the ground when she moves the car. Shovel some concrete into his gas line, if he wants to play like that.
