Oh God is there ever a difference between the sexes!
I need to be physically incapable of movement to admit Im ill but if my husband gets a sniffle the he automatically has the flu and is bedridden for days! I can honestly say I have only ever had the flu once and it was so horific I dont ever want it again. The only other thing that made me take to my bed recently was an attack of gall bladder. Oh My God! I was in agony for days!

If I am able to work even feeling sick I prefer not to and go see medical counsil.
If doc says I must stay home while ministering this or that care or prescription I will judge risks to go work even so.
If I feel a back pain and if it develops to the point I can't come out of bed without a helping hand I'm definitely needing treatment. And I say I am ill.
If I sit down to have lunch outside and I suddenly get my limbs burning and the food is the same as everyone is eating I am to expect bad developments then I go to see doc to avoid the next panic of death approach.

For me it is not just a cold. No, it's more like I am seriously vomiting that I might think it's a good idea not to go into school. I've not had a day off school for the past three years - not bad going, eh!
Oh, and I'm a girl, 14 years if that helps in any way.

If I am in so much pain I cannot sleep, impossible to get comfortable or get away from the pain. If my movement is so restricted I am sometimes housebound. If it takes me 20 minutes to walk to the corner shop, when my partner can do it in 5.
Hang on....that's me now. But I'm not "ill"; just arthritic!!!!
Man flu huh!!!!

I personally consider myself ill if my temperature goes above 100, and if I'm puking (from the flu) or have horrible congestion and sore throat along with it.
My husband is "never" sick - I usually have to force him to stay home and see a doctor.

when i can't focus and can't sit still is when i stay my tooshie in bed. no point in destroying world order, cuz i can't keep my chunks where they belong. i have a high threshold for pain and discomfort though, so i'm a special case.
