y - intercept (0, 1/2), slope is 3/4.

I thought it would be y= 3/4 x + 3,
but the answer book says
y=3/4 x + 1/2

where did they come up with 1/2 instead of 3?
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
thanks

When you graph (0, 1/2), you go up 1/2 on the y axis. The y intercept is where the line crosses the y axis, so in this problem, 1/2 is the y intercept.

y=mx+b
m is the slope
b is the y intercept

y=3/4x+1/2

hope this helps = ]

I'm not sure where you got the "3" from.

In the equation, "y = mx + b",
m is the slope (you got that right, it's 3/4)
b is the y-intercept.

The problem tells you that the point of the y-intercept is (0, 1/2). The y-intercept is the y-coordinate of that point. In other words, it's 1/2.

the 1/2 came from the y-intercept ( (0,1/2) ) .

The "b" of the equation is always when x =0..meaning the y-int.

I don't know how you got 3..

y = mx + c is equation where m is gradient and c is y intercept.
Thus , in this case:-
y = (3/4) x + 1/2

its add 1/2 because the line intercepts the y axis at 1/2 thats why you have to add the half. hope this helps .. =) good luck ..

by the way if this dont help ask your teacher im sure theyll be happy to help .. =)

You already knew that m = 0.75, and that the line passes through (0,0.5) (x,y!)

So the equation becomes:

y=mx + b
0.5 = (0.75)(0.0) + b
b=0.5 (or 1/2)

That's right. Y-intercept is "b" in y=mx+b.
