staying "normal" well today my blood pressure was 140/100, I had +2 protein in my urine, and I gained 4 pounds in 4 days.... I know these are all signs of pre-eclampsia, but my doctor didnt seem TOO overly concerned. I'm scheduled to be induced on October 9th, and all my doctor did was told me to do ANOTHER 24 hour urine test and repeat the SAME blood work I did LAST week to double check everything. I've been getting bad headaches lately and told him about it, but all he said was a headaches can raise your blood pressure..... my question basically is should he have done something more, or should I just sit back and wait to find out the results to this blood work/urine test?

I think i'm more concerned because I've read up on pre-eclampsia and it can lead to seizures.... thats what REALLY scares me!

I'm sure he's a very good doctor.

Headaches might bring your BP up, but the reverse is true, too. Really bad headaches can be a sign that your BP is out of range.

I'm sure you're going to be fine, but I'd lay off salt (waterweight also raises BP), and maybe drink a little lite caffiene, like a mild soda--Dr. Pepper, Coke. They'll make you pee, and reduce your water weight. Not too much, though. We don't want the caffiene to cause the BP to go higher. Caffiene will help your headache, too.

At home, keep things light. Rest on your L side, keep your feet slightly elevated. Stay as calm and content as you possibly can. Baby's gonna be here anytime now, and these problems will be yesterday's news.

First thing is you need to relax. I had high blood pressure my whole pregnancy and was on medication for it the entire time. I was on bed rest the last month also. Focus on relaxing, and find something calming to do. Read, start a journal, anything to pass the time. If you were sent home, then the doctors must think you're not ready yet, and every day the baby is the womb is better. I understand how you feel, just listen to your body. Good luck.

I am not going to try and second guess your doctor cause maybe you are leaving some things out, but IMO- your baby needs to come out-now.
38 wks, 140/100, 2+ protein and headaches in a patient with preexisting hypertension just screams for an induction. I would go to any nearby hospital labor and delivery floor and tell them your history and the symptoms you are having. If you are in the US, I dont think that they can turn you away. You arent having blurred vision or seeing little stars or floaters are you? If so, get to the hospital and DO NOT drive yourself

I was in the same situation at the end of my pregnancy, at first he just monitored me but at the second appt that it was high he put me on bed rest and stripped my membranes to try and help it along. She was born 1 week early, but I also fell down our deck the day before I went into labor and ripped the only pair of pants I had left that fit me, I think I cried more over that than the fall even though I mangled my leg LOL
With my second it was the same high blood pressure at the end, she was also supposedly 10+ lbs at 38 weeks so he induced me to solve both problems. Turns out she was 8.03 lbs, she just had a big head LOL
They told me to stop working (with my first, with our second I was a SAHM) and lie on my left side as much as possible and avoid all salt. Which actually made my boss happy he was so nervous with me working so close to the end, I was actually closer to the hospital at my job than my home LOL

If you trust your Doc, let him take care of you. The last 4 weeks of my pregnancy, I had blood work twice a week to try to account for the same thing - high BP, weight gain, etc. Nothing was wrong.

If you don't trust him, go get a 2nd opinion.
