What's your favorite name? Why do you like it so much? I have two favorite names....Julia and Marian. I've always liked Julia. Its simple and not off-the-wall but its not overused. I've always liked the name Marian....its my grandmother's name also.
I don't have kids yet, but I'll probably use Marian. I hope someone has some favorite boy names, as I'm kinda dry on them!

Hey Denise:
That's my name...but my middle name is Lyn. How weird is that? But I always hated my name....cuz I was the only Janelle in the entire school....when I was young I wanted to be Jennifer or Heather or Amy.
But now I kinda like my name....
Thanks for the vote of confidence!

I like the name Marian cuz its my grandmother's name, and she is the nicest most caring person I've known in my life.
I guess I tend to stray away from common names. Even though I like Emily, Madison, Oliva and Ashley, I'd never name my own child that. There's too many girls with those names already!

Short-listed favorites, in no particular order ...
BOYS
Ronan
Lachlan
Lennox
Cillian
Ewan
Harvey
Hugh
GIRLS
Eleanor
Talulla
Gwyneth
Morrigan
Scarlett
Alethea
Mairenn (MAWR-en)
*** not unlike your Marian. ;)
Edited to add: These are my favorites because most reflect our heritage, but without being overly-common options. We also tend to like girl names with nickname options, and the above can be shortened to Nora or Nell, Lulu, Lula or Lucy, Gwen, Molly or Maggie, Lettie or Scout, Thea, Maire or Molly (again). ;) Options are always nice!
Ps. Never shy away from a name you love because someone thinks it "old." That just generally means it's (thankfully!) not overused, which is wonderful! And no matter how mature a name may sound, your child will one day be an adult. LOL We're not naming two-year-olds ... that's exactly what all those cutesy nicknames are for! Love the special meaning behind Marian, by the way. ;)

Use them both. Make Julia the first name and Marian the middle name.
I like Audria Marie for a girl and Alexander Joseph and call him Xander for a boy.
