See the boat/ship at start of video? Before voice radio was developed &/or strong enough to reach long distances, 'Morse Code" was developed. A series of dots & dashes that represented letters of the alphabet
letter one= one .
letter two= -
letter tjhree two .. etc.

SOS means SAVE OUR SHIP in the shorthand used by telegraph/morse code operators. It was a distress call when a ship on was in really bad shape, sinking. It was sent out by Titanic when they hit the iceberg.

Save Our Ship... its also used like "help me out of this situation" like in your song i suppose. Save our ship as in "I'm Stranded" So basically its just an expression in this case. Unless you're literally stuck at sea or on a deserted island.

SOS is widley assumed to mean "Save our Ship", but in reality, it does not. SOS is Morse code. I believe it is dash-dot-dash, which was used to mean an emergancy, because it was quick, and could not be mistaken for a word. Because it ends up that the dash and dots are SOS, it eventually became a standard for "save our ship"; mostly because it was used in nautical emergancies.
