Well, a due date is a best guess. Your little one will come out when he is ready. Dont stress, dont worrie. just have a bag packed and waiting, its good to have one in the back of the car, and one at the house.

congrats on your baby =)

You are only 34 wks. The baby dropping doesn't mean a thing like the above poster said. Many babies drop early. That is just a normal thing in pregnancy as it moves a long. I would NOT suggest trying to induce yourself at this early of time if that's what you're thinking. It could harm the baby. Go back to your doc and talk about your due date. Dropping is not a true sign of active labor, you need to talk with him about these things

dialation (how far effaced are you?)
pressure on the pelvic floor
contractions (are you having real contractions or just Braxton Hix?)
loss of mucus plug
water breaking (but not all women's water breaks on their own)

If he says that all these things are null and void, chances are you are not going to have it now.

You belly can drop as early as 8 months and you not have the baby. You are probably just really uncomfortable with the extra weight you are carrying around. Yes you could deliver at 34 weeks and your baby be fine but it's best to go as long as you can. If you have doubts about your due date, see if our Dr. will order another ultrasound for you.

The Dr. can usually tell from the size of the baby what your due date will be, or pretty close. as for your belly dropping, this is normal about this time the baby is just getting so big that he will adjust and his head is now in your hip area so you might start feeling more pressure and pain in your lower back. most likely the baby is coming soon, but not too soon! good luck.

I was dropped from 30 weeks on, yet didnt have my son until ful term.

Being dropped really doesnt meant anything.

If you've had ultrasounds then your due date is right, within w few days on way or the other.

Its too early to have a baby that will thrive, let alone for sure survive. Until you have reached 37 weeks it is not a good idea to go into labor.

As it is, so long as you've had a normal pregnancy its really unlikely that you would have your baby now.

Yes it is possible you can have your baby right now. I'm also 34 weeks and my baby has dropped down too. I went to the doctor and they told me 2cm and 80% effaced. This is my 3 pregnancy. I had my first child at 24 weeks and my second child at 34 weeks. The first one had to stay in the hospital 6 months and my second baby came right home from the hospital with me at 34 weeks. Good luck and Congrats

It would be possbile to go into labor soon but it would also be perfectly normal if you went another couple of weeks. "Lightning" as it is called is not a sign that baby will be born soon(ie in a few hours or days) just that it is making one of its final preperations. So just relax and enjoy being able to breathe deeply again.

Good Luck!

it would be a little early. but with my son he dropped 3 weeks before coming out. those were the most miserable 3 weeks of my life! everytime he moved his head i was in excrutiating pain and i doubled over! i had him at 37 weeks. my daughter came at 36 weeks and they freaked out but she wound up being just fine. the only problem she had was she didn't have her sucking reflex yet. and calculations can be off. either way best of luck!

Babies can drop weeks before they are due.

Yes, you could go early, but you can't predict simply based on the baby dropping or how big you feel.

Why do you think they calculated your date wrong?

your baby is safe after 37 weeks and cosidered full term
you never can tell for sure doctors are not infalliable! baby has probably shifted keep watch for the mucous plug show and contractions...the show can happen weeks before labor though
