I really recommend the "Twilight" series by Stephenie Meyers. It's mostly a love story between a girl & a vampire with a conscious. It's really great & beautifully written. I really recommend it.

A really touching love story is The Promise by Danielle Steel. (Amazon description: Young architect Michael Hillyard and artist Nancy McAllister are determined to get married despite his wealthy mother's disapproval. Then, minutes before their wedding, a terrifying accident and a cruel deception separate Michael and Nancy -- perhaps forever. Each pursues a new life -- Nancy in California, Michael in New York. But eventually nothing -- and no one -- can keep them apart as they keep their vow never to say good-bye.")
She has a lot of other good novels, too. Authors who write excellent books that have both love stories and drama include Maeve Binchy, Rosamund Pilcher and Taylor Caldwell (though if you read Caldwell you may want to keep a dictionary handy). Rosamund Pilcher's books are my favorite of the three (I like them all). I suggest September (it comes after The Shell Seekers but it also stands alone); The Empty House; Sleeping Tiger; Snow in April; Under Gemini and Voices in Summer.
If you enjoy good Christian fiction, Lawanna Blackwell has some excellent series. The Gresham Chronicles (The Widow of Larkspur Inn; The Courtship of the Vicar's Daughter; The Dowry of Miss Lydia Clark) was my favorite.
Gilbert Morris has an excellent and very long series called The House of Winslow. It begins in the 1600s and follows the family all the way to the present. The first few books are The Honorable Imposter; The Captive Bride; The Indentured Heart; The Gentle Rebel and The Saintly Buccaneer.
Jane Peart is another Christian writer with an excellent and long series called The Brides of Montclair series that starts in the 1700s and follows the Montclair family to the present. The first few books are The Valiant Bride; The Ransomed Bride; Fortune's Bride; Folly's Bride; and Yankee Bride/Rebel Bride.
Eugenia Price is yet another Christian author whose books are excellent. Her books are generally set around the mid 1800s. Her Savannah series (Savannah; To See Your Face Again; Before the Darkness Falls and Stranger in Savannah) is great.
If you want fantasy/supernatural thrillers, read Frank Peretti. He is a fabulous author of such books as House (with Ted Dekker); The Oath; The Visitation; Prophet; Piercing the Darkness; This Present Darkness; The Veritas Project books-Hangman's Curse & Nightmare Academy.
I would also suggest that you read C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series starting with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It is absolutely wonderful.
If you want to try some classic love stories, I suggest Pride and Prejudice (or Sense and Sensibility or Persuasion) by Jane Austen; Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte; Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte; Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell. If you want a classic that has a love story in it but doesn't have a happy ending, read Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy or Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert. You might also enjoy Camille by Alexandre Dumas.
BTW: Other Christian fiction writers that are good include Janette Oke; Robin Lee Hatcher; Robin Jones Gunn and Lori Wick. the best books about that which are not very inappropriate are from Sarah Dessen my favorivte of her was along for the ride, truth about forever, just listen. I like her book because it not all cheesy and its not all about sex. there is some drama but mostly family drama and the guy has a secret or something

Of Human Bondage, Somerset Maugham. Its absolutely not raunchy at all as it was written in the 19th century. Absolutely beautiful story, and extremely complex. If you liked the movie "The Painted Veil", its based on a book by Maugham. I highly reccomend both.
