I'm also relieved that he is okay.
I am a die-hard Ferrari supporter, but I must admit that it looks like Hamilton is going to win the title, and teach the more seasoned drivers a lesson in the process.
McLaren built a good car for this season, but Hamilton has made a huge difference for the team from a driver's championship perspective.
Alonso and Raikkonen will now be hoping that Hamilton doesn't even finish the last two races.

That crash ruined his chance at winning the F1 Championship to make it a three peat just like Schmaucher crashed out of the Championship at the exact same race, although on a different course. And yes, I do find it ironic that now it is Alonso who has crashed out of the championship as that was the whole reason why he won last year in the first place. I find it impossible for him to win the championship even through mathematically he still has a chance. Hamilton will seal his Championship this weekend in Shanghai and become the first rookie to win the Formula One Championship.

12 months ago, also in Japan (Suzuka), Michael was on the verge of going ahead in the championship and his engine blew, virtually handing Alonso the title. How ironic that the same has happened to Alonso. Now, with his chance of winning the title pretty much gone, Alonso is going to go all out - we'll see some great racing from him in the next two races...followed by some sort of a parting shot, maybe...

I'm glad he was OK, i never like to see drivers crash spectacularly.
i think he will drive like a man possessed on sunday and do everything to win and pray Hamilton DNF's but i think it is too big a challenge especially when he has such a strained relationship with the team.
I just hope it ends cleanly and hopefully with a respectful handshake between champions?
Please remember, even after all their season long bullsh!t, Senna/Prost and Hill/ Schumacher could congratulate each other and enjoy a civil conversation.

He's not totally out of it but his chances are slim. Lewis would have to do the same thing that Alonso did in at least one of the last two races for Alonso to have a chance.

Yes, this crash ruined his chance at the title. I just don't see him making up the points needed to beat lewis this year. who knows, maybe that idiot vettel will put a dent into lewis's car next race and cause him to crash.

Seems tough for him to win the title now. If Hamilton gets the pole in Shanghai he can go all out, if he doesn't get the pole he can let Alonso fight it out with the Ferraris and settle for an easy 3rd or fourth.
