neighbor upstairs thinks that he is under current surveillance bu the government/military and that all his physical pains are the result of them microwaving him.

I have been his neighbor (only acquaintance) for about 3 years, and have yet to see anything unusual except when he had those 2 priest preform an exorcist.

I have suggested everything from camping to becoming a monk and yet he still is obsessed with conspiracies.

The sad part is that he has been observed and looked at by 3 doctors and multiple shrinks. they all say that there is nothing wrong!?? then why does he drop on the ground sometimes?

ok, now what? I don't want to have to move, and I don't want him blowing up something, like the complex so that his issues will be gone, I have kids to protect.

oh ya, by the way, you can't have people committed anymore to a mental health facility.darn!!

Well I know you said you have kids and you don't want to move but I have kids and I wouldn't take a chance living around someone that I thought may place them in harms way in one way or another. I would move, but if nothing else let the police in on his behavior and see if they can suggest anything....good luck

I would say to keep on being friendly from a distance. He does sound very disturbed. Does this man work at a paying job? If not, he could be faking these delusions to stay on disability. I am curious though, how do you know what the doctors and shrinks have said to him? Is the delusional man telling you what they say? If so, why would you believe this man?
If you live in rental housing, can you talk to your landlord about this guy?

What the hell, why can't he be committed to the hospital??! like they have to go there on their own, so they have to hit rock bottom first like a drug addict and go, "Yeah there's something wrong with me" first??
Ask him if he has any family, get their numbers, and call them, saying you don't want to seem nosy, but that he's affecting your quality of life and your sense of safety. It's sort of a "why not try" sort of thing

As long as he isn't breaking any laws himself or making a lot of noise or other disruptions, leave him be.

All humans are insane in one way or another, its just a matter of degree and how well we hide it.

Have you ever thought that he might be right?

Honey, he has paranoia and possibly some dementia. You are kind to care about him. Just treat him with respect and tell the kids to avoid him. They don't understand.

If you haven't seen anything unusal than there shouldn't be anything to worry about right?

Maybe he needs one of those tin foil hats.
