The engine sounds fine no noises and it runs fine, and its just past the emissions in the MOT, Ive tried ingector cleaner in the fuel, but thats not helped. It only smokes(Black) when I put my foot down or it struggles up hills???

Change the air filter and hoover the spiders out of the air box.

Blue smoke is oil burning and black smoke is a too rich burning engine. Too rich (too much unburned gasoline) is bad for your expensive catalytic converter and will eventually ruin it. Make sure your air filter is good. You should start by reviewing your tune up items like the ignition spark plugs, plug wires and distributor cap and rotor if so equipped. Also check the emissions maintenance items (EGR, PCV etc). I assumed Mitsubishi doesn't make a diesel for your car. A diesel is a different story.
