My son has his own password, and I want to stop him using the computer, trouble is I dont know what it is and he wont tell me.I want to cancel his password and set up a new one and not tell him-please advise, I am a learner with this bloody thing!

If you are the administrator, go to Control Panel and then open User Accounts. You can change it there.

I'm assuming Windows XP.
Reboot the computer. As soon as the BIOS information disappears (white text on black background) start hitting F8. This should bring up a menu; select Safe Mode.
For username put Administrator with no password (that's the default). If it works, go to Control Panel:Users and you can change passwords there.
If it doens't work, there is a way to hack it out but I'm not going to post it publicly.

you will get rid of the admin password with abode windows Password Key.or Reset a clean one.yet you % a clean cd or usb flash force. It heavily isn't complicated and in simple terms % you a couple of minutes to try this after which you will resolve the themes.

restart the computer and hold down f8 during startup. select to start windows in safe mode. when you get to thr log in screen, there should be an account named Administrator. Use this account to change his password. Easy!

Unless you have Administrator rights on the computer, you can't hack into his account and change the password. Sorry!
If you don't want him using the computer, tell him he can't use it.

go on control panel and then user accounts, then on change an account and click on his and delete his password. Then go onto his account and create a password that he would never guess.
but remember he can (if he knows how to) delete that one and then make another!

theres not much you can do without the password the only thing i can recomend is a formatt or take it to a pc tecnician..
