If we look at the active drivers, the average height is 5'9" (174 cm). Only three drivers break the 6 foot or taller barrier: David Coulthard and Jenson Button are both 6'0" (182 cm), while Mark Webber is the giant of Formula One this year at 6'1" (184 cm). There are a few test drivers as tall or taller as Webber, namely Andre Lotterer, who equals Webber, and Alexander Wurz who measures a slightly taller 6'2" at 186 cm. Officially, Minardi's aerodynamic tester Jirko Malcharek is the tallest driver in Formula One today at 6'3" (189 cm).

Generally the drivers are smaller than average, this is an advantage because the car plus driver have a minimum weight, so the smaller (and lighter!) the driver the more weight can be distributed in various parts of the car which will give it a speed advantage over cars with taller (and heavier!) drivers.

It really depends on the driver.
I gather that there is a driver from Australia who was over 6 foot.
Each team will alter the cars to fit their drivers so the peddles for 1 driver will be in totally the wrong place for another. That is why the teams have two 'T' Cars so if say Lewis mashed his car in practice one of the 'T' Cars is set up for him & the other for Alonso. & a few years ago the Ferrari team had the 'T' car set up for Rubens Barrichello, but Schumacher crashed and then went out Barrichello's car & to everyone amazement came 2nd even though the car was not set up for him.

Webber & Wurz are the tallest (i think)and there was an interview with Webber when he first came in to F1 about him being the tallest driver and that its quite uncomfortable driving. They had to lengthen his cockpit as drivers are usually small
