Breast reduction is a major surgery, and like any surgery carries some risks. This operation is usually done to relieve strain and pain in the back, neck, or shoulder that can be caused by large breasts. This operation may relieve some discomfort and it may improve shoulder droop. This surgery is not recommended for women who plan to breast-feed.
If you are having back and/or neck pain due to large breasts then this surgery might be something you want to investigate.

It is as safe as any surgery, so it has its risks.
I went through it Feb 2006, and they have one person in there watching your vitals constantly. You will be properly taken care of in the OR.
I do not regret it one bit! I would do it again if I have to!
http://www.breasthealthonline.com is an excellent site to check out!

Edit: OH, and you CAN breastfeed after surgery, you just need to talk to the right doctor and make sure they do NOT do a "Free Nipple Graft", as that completely removes your nipple and cuts down your chances of breastfeeding.

Breast reduction sugrery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

the rate of fatality and failure is very low. On par with things like knee surgery and tonsilectomies...
But it's wise to do your research on the Medical professional beforehand.
