How many continuances have you had so far? I think you can ask for 3 continuances in the State of Texas, which should give you time to come up with the rest of the money. Ask your attorney to file for a continuance if you haven't used them all up yet. If you do not have an attorney I would get one, even a public defender is better than no attorney, and even if you are guilty you have the right to legal representation. The state is supposed to appoint an attorney for you if you can not afford one. I wouldn't try to do this without an attorney if I were you. If you are going to do this without representation, call the Clerk of the Courts to see if you can get a continuance. Depending on how much you wrote the hot checks for depends on how hard the courts will be on you. Did you write these checks in a high enough amount to be considered misdemeanors or felonies?

Good luck w/ texas. Maybe if you go to the court house and petition your prosecutor or try to redocket the case at a later date you could gain a little time, but the chances of them doing that are slim seeing as youve already had a few months . . . usually w/ fines if you go in w/ a portion of it they will take it and then give you another court date a month down the line w/ steeper penalties if you dont pay up by then, depending on how much you owe. Like say right now you owe 500 bucks, and you have until friday to pay it or they are goign to put you on house arrest. Well you go to court, give them 200 bucks, theyll give you a new court date but that time if you dont have it you'll go to jail.

That will really depend on the DA's attitude. Just be up front with them that you are trying to pay them but had a hard time finding a job. Suggest a payment schedule or something like that and they will most likely work with you.

Only the people you owe can answer that question. How about giving them a call. Making a payment will help you in any case.

"all but 1/2"? Thats not nearly all.

You can ask for an extension which you may or may not get.

ask for an extension. If you have been faith full in making payements I am pretty sure they will let you continue
