San Diego is great with fun things to do and good living conditions. Getting a place to live will be you biggest problem and it's not to hard. The beach cities are fun, Ocean beach and Pacific beach are the least expensive and there are apartments that are affordable. good concerts all the time, sports teams are competetive with the Chargers and the Padres. San Diego States football team is usually a contender. Surfing, Mexico and great food are close and easy. You could do a lot worse.

Don't believe "The Southside is Crappy." This is a Realtor who has clearly never been to Mission Hills, South Park, Eastlake, etc. Other posters are right, plenty to do in San Diego for all types and interests. If you get bored in San Diego, you would anywhere. It won't be a culture shock, but you will have to meet the locals more than you would as army in Iraq or Germany.

Lots of fun things to do but the beach is an expensive place to live.........San Diego in general is expensive but the beach are is generally higher. I live in TN now and that has been a culture shock. SD is a lot different. Faster living.......Jobs are good depending what you do.....Moving from SD to TN, we have found that a lot of things cost the same but housing, electricity, and gas is a lot more there. The house we bought in TN would go for over $400,000 in SD......$150,000 in TN. I miss it because I was born there and lived there for 41 years and family is there.......don't miss the high cost of living though!

Good choice moving to SD, you'll really like it here, you'll never be lacking things to do, it's a very active and fun community with really friendly people. My wife and I moved here from LA about 6 months ago and have had no trouble making friends. We both quit our jobs and moved down here because we liked it so much. We didn't have any trouble finding jobs. we rent an apartment in little Italy, which is downtown, it's a little less than 2k per month for about 850 sq. ft. which is kind of on the more expensive end for SD, but we love being downtown, we can walk to the gaslamp district, baseball games, seaport village, balboa park, and we're only a 10 min. drive to the beaches. If your in the military, you'll have no trouble fitting in, there's tons of military people here. Good luck with the move hope you like it here!

I was born and raised in San diego, then moved to Texas. We sold our house when the market was up and moved to texas. There are lots of activities to do. Good paying jobs, faster living pace, housing is pricey, nice people, beautiful beaches, good restaraunts, shopping, lots of traffic..and no humidity, no bugs..I really miss San diego.. You might have some trouble finding somewhere to live though..its kind of expensive compared to Tn..I think you might like it there though. Good luck.

I love SD, my father was stationed here years ago and we settled down here. There's a lot to do here, sports - Padres & Chargers, beaches, parks, close to TJ, few hours drive to Las Vegas and L.A., tons of tourist attractions, lots of military, active & retired. It is cheaper to live by Ocean or Pacific beach, more younger people and more rowdy. Maybe you can find an apt that has a monthly lease, this way it'll be easier to move when you find a job and decide what part of SD you want to live in.

Do not worry about fun, or friends. There is plenty to do, and it is one of the easiest big cities to fit into, especially with a military background. You need to figure out where you are going to work. It is easy to find living quarters once you have decided this. I suggest trying to stick close to the beach, and between Carlsbad and downtown SD, the southside is crappy, and o-side is out there. Rents vary greatly depending on where you are going, but you generally get what you pay for.

How would tithing benefit the people living in Utah more? Tithing in the church is sent to Salt Lake, BUT it then goes anywhere in the world, it is used to build new meetinghouses, temples, and humanitarian projects. It is used to help people in need, print Book of Mormons and Bible's that are given out to people. And also many other things that further the work of God.We believe that tithing is the Lord's money, we try not to waste it.

You'll have plenty to do, good sports teams, great weather, beaches everywhere, best zoo in the world, wonderful museums, etc. The only thing is that it's not cheap! Good luck!
