It will only work if you both want it to. I liked the other answer from the person who has been married for 38+ years to the person they were in a long distance relationship with.
Ultimately it can only work if you know at some point the distance will no longer be an issue. I've been married for two years to my husband and our relationship started as a long distance relationship with him being in England and myself being in the US.

Yes it can work, but it will be difficult. The more committed you are to the relationship the more likely you are to last. But it doesn't make it easier. I'm in a relationship where we live about 1 1/2 hr. apart and see each other every week or every other week. It can work, but your phone bill may go up.

My girlfriend was at Uni 500 miles away. We met (at best) once a fortnight.
We have been married 38+years. Does that answer you?

Show each other your commitment and make the best of the time you have together. Distance doesn't have to ruin a relationship as long as you both love and are committed to each other.
