I have read comments like this: I´m not going to Portugal because something can happen to my children, etc.

What happened to Maddie can happen everywhere at anytime. That´s why we should look after our children.

you are exactly right - these predators are everywhere in every city. It's sad really that we are walking amongst pedophiles everyday - just watch one episode of Dateline and you will see they are teachers, doctors, ministers, lawmakers, etc. etc.
Although I do believe the reason they are pointing the finger at the parents is because they don't want their tourism down.
Just look at how slow tourism got in Aruba after Natalie Holloway went missing there. They depend ALOT on tourism.

I pray Madeleine wasn't a victim of a pedophile but odds point to the chances that she was.

accountable or to no longer blame????? that's a genuine hard question for some human beings, yet no longer so hard for me. despite if that they had no direct connection with Maddie's disappearance, they nevertheless have been interior the incorrect. Leaving toddlers that youthful on my own and not utilising a accountable grownup to visual demonstrate unit over them is extremely unacceptable. that they had no excuse of no longer with the flexibility to arise with the money for, with the two having reliable careers. They enabled this tragedy by using being undesirable mum and dad.

Be it Portugal or anywhere in the world there are bad people about preying on young children, reason why we should never assume them to be safe, not unless we are with them at all times. Nothing wrong with Portugal by the way! It's beautiful, lovely people and i'd go back tomorrow!

Portugal has got nothing to do with the disappearance. Comments in trashy newspapers and some ill considered speculation on Y!A only makes things worse.

Jeez, Louise!

Isn't Portugal the place where the culture has babysitters available 24/7 for holiday resorts, including the one where the McCanns were?

And, isn't it true that nobody's little kids have been harmed or turned up missing that were left with these sitters? I think Portugal is a marvellous place, and I plan to go there for my next vacation, thank you!

It isn't to blame. This is typical irrational thinking based on people being emotional. If I were you, I wouldn't put so much attention on what one person probably said that the press then took and "hyped" because it provided for good theater. The press reports things that sell papers and gets people to watch regardless of the complete lack of believability. See them for what they are worth (which isn't much).

Good question. Portugal is not too blame. It's the parents who neglectied the children are to blame cos Madeleine went missing as a result. If that happened in a another country then the parents would still be at fault. Those children should not have been left alone in the first place. §

Personally think Portugal is better off without them.

Don't take your kids to Rothley though.

Well said.....Portugal is a fantastic place especially the Algarve. And the people are lovely too. I would feel safer walking around Portugal at night than I would in the UK during the day.
