Depends on how deadly or incapacitating the virus is. Antibiotics do not work against viruses and the only way to get over it is to fight with antibodies that humans produce naturally. If the virus is too strong and antibodies can't fight the infection fast enough then a virus could cripple a country or the world by either leaving people bed ridden or dead.
