I know of no credible evidence to suggest ghosts are real. Many people take it for granted and bend over backwards to make it seem like a legitimate claim, but there is no evidence whatsoever for ghosts. I just don't understand why the claims persist.
In addition, I know of no physical mechanism that can account for most of the things ghosts have been given credit for doing. This isn't a reason, it's just an attempt to understand what might make a ghost exist.
In light of the above statements, even though it isn't possible to prove a negative, I am perfectly comfortable living under the assumption that ghosts do not exist. If some credible evidence crops up I of course will change my position on the matter.

I was skeptical until a few years ago. That was when I started work at a prison that ( I know this will sound like the premise to a bad horror movie) used to be a mental hospital. Sounds stupid, but it's true. In the past 3 years I have seen several things that I could not explain, including floating lights that only show up on the video cameras and people in places where they could not be (like inside locked high-security buildings). People who are there one instant and gone the next. I believe now.

I don't believe in ghosts or anything remotely spectral. I don't believe in the dead, only the living and the animated. If there were such things, why doesn't everybody experience them? I believe in other unseen forces like magnetism or the wind. You can't see either, but you can see the effects of both. Everybody can. I don't know of anybody, personally, who has ever seen a ghost or even thinks they may have had an experience with a ghost. I believe that in all reported cases of ghosts there is a more credible explanation other than the paranormal. I do believe in a higher power, others would probably describe as God, but I don't believe that a spirit, human or otherwise, would spend it's time haunting the living for whatever reason. To me, it's like believing in Little Red Riding Hood or Sleeping Beauty or any other fairy tale. They all originated as stories to scare people (usually children) into doing the right thing. Fear is a behavioural control measure. The story of ghosts and other spectres are just that, stories.

I didn't but may be starting to change my mind. Lately at night, the lights in different rooms in my house are being turned on. Last night, it was in another bedroom. Tonight (just a few minutes ago) it was in the kitchen. Many Saturday nights, my daughters and I will be in the living room watching TV and the light (it's a lamp beside the couch where I sit) will turn off. A few nights ago I got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom and the light in my daughters' room was turned on and they were both sound asleep. Now, I'm not sure what's happening but I really believe it's more than a giant coincidence.

I can't even be sure anymore. Part of me says yes they can,but not in the aspect we would think...like in the floating spirit we would see on TV. Kind of more like a presence. So I guess in that aspect I would say yes i do. When you say a ghost, people think of floating sheets and stuff from movies and cartoons...I don't think that is probable. I will officially sound a bit loopy now, but I do feel a presence at times,so that is why I think if they do exist it is just in that form and not in a floating form. Hope i9t helps you out a bit.

Yes, I do believe in ghosts! I lived in a haunted house once and saw "something" (I can't swear it was a ghost but looked like one) standing by the side of the bed. It scared me to death, this tall white form, almost transparent, just standing there and staring at me!
I've never had that kind of issue anywhere but that one house and it wasn't just happening to me, it was also happening to my husband (at the time, we're now divorced). He saw the thing several times, once was enough for me! I've never been more scared in my life!

Well, some things have happened to me. Like there is an evil cat (I know it may sound silly but it's true) in my neighborhood, well there used to be. It first started with my friend's little brother falling out the window and luckily landing on the sandbox. My friend was in the room with him and claims she heard a meow and saw a cat push him out of the window. I got really interested. Also, when that same friend moved, there was a haunted house in her new neighborhood. She knows this because her sister's friend claims she heard moaning in the night so I came over and we decided to check it out. We brought her friend's camera. We got actual photos of the ghost picking up her towel (they had got wet in the rain) and then dropping it. And we got another photo of her and her husband in a tuxedo and a wedding dress. When we came back later, we heard knocking and then a scream and saw the curtains open and close. We started screaming and the lady across the street came out and said "No one lives there. Stay away. I don't want you to get hurt. Don't take pictures!!!" By then we were more interested than ever. Why would we get hurt? Why didn't she want us to take pictures? Why didn't anyone live there? So we figured she had something to do with it. On our way back, we saw my friends name and birthday carved into the street. So the next day when the lady was gone, we went back to the haunted house and saw nothing. When we went back, we were disappointed when she pointed to the back of my leg and said "Look. She's bleeding!!!" So everyone else checked the back of their legs and everyone also had a red mark, and we were wearing sandels! It was so scary, we never went back there. So thats why I started believing in that. I really hope this helps you.

totally. i don't believe in god or the devil, heaven or hell, but i do believe in positive and negative energy and whatever someone leaves behind when they die, carries on. kind of like a spiritual thumb print. i've encountered some unexplainable things before and so have other people i know that were skeptics at one time. ghosts i don't think are spirits of people but rather a residue their energy leaves behind. there are other theories, but i don't know them completely enough to type about them.
